The Six Flags Entertainment Corporation, owner of Kings Island, has announced a plan to reintroduce the park president role at 10 “key properties” throughout the chain. The role was originally eliminated at all of the company’s amusement parks during a massive layoff last year.
The firings occurred during the tenure of then-president and CEO Richard Zimmerman, who stepped down from his position in December. He was replaced by John Reilly, who previously served as the COO of SeaWorld Parks and Entertainment.
“These changes are about putting leadership, expertise and accountability as close to our guests and team members as possible,” said Reilly in a press statement. “By strengthening park-level leadership, and aligning our support model with our strategic priorities, we’re empowering our teams to move faster, innovate locally and deliver exceptional experiences every day.”
The properties set to receive a new park president are: Canada’s Wonderland; Carowinds; Cedar Point; Kings Island; Knott’s Berry Farm; Six Flags Great Adventure; Six Flags Great America; Six Flags Magic Mountain; Six Flags Over Georgia; and Six Flags Over Texas.
Tony Carovillano has been chosen to serve as Kings Island’s new president. With over four decades in the industry, Carovillano has worked in leadership roles at parks such as Carowinds and Worlds of Fun. He currently serves as Kings Island’s park manager.
“Kings Island is a fun family tradition in Cincinnati and recognized by many across the world,” said Carovillano in a press statement. “I look forward to keeping what makes the park so special — for our associates and for our guests — while continuing to thrill, excite and entertain with every investment we make.”

Six Flags’ other Ohio park, Cedar Point, will also be receiving a new president, Colleen Brady. She currently serves as its park manager.
“The ultimate goal is simple: to consistently deliver the best possible guest and team member experience across all parks,” said Reilly. “With the introduction of these park presidents, we are confident we have the right leaders in place to unlock the full potential of our parks and elevate performance.”
