Klay Thompson has officially stepped into the chaos surrounding his breakup—and this time, it played out in a direct, public back-and-forth that’s now circulating widely online.
The latest development started with Chicago streamer Matthew Brooks, who posted a heated video on Instagram on April 29 reacting to Stephen A. Smith’s comments about Thompson and Megan Thee Stallion. In the clip, Brooks didn’t hold back, calling Smith “morally bankrupt” and a “p***y [expletive],” before escalating further: “You got Klay Thompson’s d*ck so far down your f*ck a** throat.”

The rant picked up traction quickly—and that’s when Thompson jumped in.
Commenting directly under the post, Thompson wrote: “Please go touch grass.”
Brooks immediately fired back, tagging him and doubling down: “@klaythompson stop touching other women gang. Take some accountability.”
“I don’t know what happened in their relationship. Don’t wanna know, ain’t none of my damn business,” Smith said. He added, “How come you just couldn’t break up and go on your merry way?” and pushed further: “What if Klay said it was you? What if Klay said that you was out there getting your freak on?”
Smith also criticized what he described as a broader trend, saying, “Why is this propensity existing to be talking, telling everybody your business?” and at one point, “These women just chirp, chirp, chirping all over the damn place.”
The situation traces back to Megan Thee Stallion publicly accusing Thompson of cheating in late April, which set off a wave of online speculation. That speculation quickly spiraled beyond the couple, falsely linking Lexie Brown to the situation and triggering a wave of harassment.
Despite that, she later revealed she received threats against her life and safety, forcing her to hire security and step away from social media to protect her mental and physical well-being.
Her inner circle also stepped in publicly. CBS Sports reporter Ashley Nicole Moss pushed back on how the narrative spread, writing that people were “taking a rumor and running with it to the point where my friend is receiving death threats for something she had ZERO involvement with,” and adding that claims used to fuel the speculation were “blatant liars.”
Brown also expressed frustration that no one directly involved shut it down. “I’m still the only person that has denied this entire situation,” she said, adding that it was “really disappointing” to be left to defend herself while being “dragged through the mud.”
