Netflix unveiled several big announcements from its video game division Thursday, just as the streamer has launched a suite of new party games to be played on TVs via your phone as a controller. These “game night” offerings mark Netflix’s first big push into TV games, as the service had only been experimenting with rolling out a few titles here and there across markets.
Among the reveals were an upcoming “Knives Out” mystery party game for the TV, as well as multiple new games coming to mobile, including Rockstar’s “Red Dead Redemption” and “Best Guess Live,” a new guess show-style game hosted by Howie Mandel.
“Starting today, you can play games on your TV, using your phone as a controller — no setup needed, it’s as easy as streaming your favorite shows,” Netflix president of games Alain Tascan said during a press event revealing the news Wednesday night in Los Angeles.
