Kristi Noem is set to divorce her husband, Bryon, after he was allegedly caught participating in the online “bimbofication” scene and pictured cross-dressing, her mother has confirmed
Kristi Noem is preparing to divorce her husband, Bryon, according to reports emerging on Friday.
The development comes after a significant scandal broke in March this year, when Bryon was reportedly discovered engaging in the online “bimbofication” scene and photographed cross-dressing.
The former Homeland Security Secretary issued a statement at the time, saying she was “devastated” and that her family was “blindsided.” She asked for “privacy and prayers at this time”.
At that stage, Noem had already been removed from her position by President Trump and was dealing with her own controversy, having been widely accused of conducting an affair with senior aide Corey Lewandowski.
While Noem has remained silent about the upheaval in her personal life, her mother, Corinne Arnold, 77, discussed the couple’s separation in an interview with the Daily Mail this week.
She told the publication that, following Byron’s scandal, the pair returned to South Dakota to attend a family birthday celebration. Arnold seized the moment to question her daughter about their marriage.
“It has been difficult, but we knew this was coming, that they were going to get divorced.
“She doesn’t tell me what she thinks,” Arnold remarked about her daughter. “Finally, I said: ‘What’s the deal? Are you going to get together again?'”
“And she said: ‘No. No. We’re going to get a divorce.’
“And I said: ‘Who is your lawyer?’ And she said it was somebody from Sioux Falls.'”
As the 34-year marriage approaches its inevitable conclusion, Noem’s mother expressed her sorrow. “I feel bad, sick that they’re getting a divorce, but what else can you do?” she told the outlet.
Bryon’s alleged secret life was uncovered through hundreds of online exchanges involving three women in the “bimbofication” community, where participants dress and present themselves as real-life Barbie dolls.
Within those messages, Bryon reportedly lavished praise on the women’s surgically-enhanced figures and allegedly confessed to desiring “huge, huge ridiculous boobs.”
While Bryon stopped short of formally denying taking or sharing the photographs, he did dispute the allegation that he made derogatory remarks about his wife.
Kristi, meanwhile, has been struggling with her own personal challenges, also after being ousted by Donald Trump in March and subjected to intense scrutiny over her alleged affair with aide Corey Lewandowski.
Kristi, at that time the Republican governor of South Dakota, denied the fling, and the Noems put on a united front.
She was then reassigned to the Shield of the Americas, a newly created, much smaller agency within the State Department than her old job.
Kristi Arnold and Bryon Noem met in high school, married in 1992, and raised daughters Kassidy, now 32, and Kennedy, 29, and a son, Booker, 24.
