The Dodgers suffered a monumental loss on Monday when the team fell to the Milwaukee Brewers in a shocking 24-9 defeat to move to 17-8 in spring training play. Jerming Rosario was credited with the loss on the mound after giving up five earned runs after facing just four batters. Teoscar Hernández hit his third home run of the season to bring in three runs, while Eliezer Alfonzo was responsible for two RBIs with his two-run double. Max Muncy also hit a home run, his third of the season, to bring in a run in the fourth. While the Dodgers produced eight hits in the loss, they just couldn’t compete with a Brewers’ team that finished the game with 16 hits and a grand slam. The loss is on the pitching staff, however, as multiple runs were walked across home plate.
The Royals’ last game took place on Sunday and resulted in a 10-4 win over the White Sox. Kyle Isbel was the only Royal with multiple hits, going 2-for-2, but he didn’t bring any runs home. Extra-base hits came from the bats of Brandon Drury with a home run, Gavin Cross with a double and Peyton Wilson with his own home run. Luca Tresh also homered to bring in Kansas City’s final run of the game. Alex Lange picked up his first win on the mound after throwing one strikeout in 1.1 innings of work.
The Royals and Dodgers have already met once during spring training play and the Dodgers picked up a 6-0 shutout in that first meeting. Tuesday’s game will be the last meeting between the two teams in preseason play, but they will meet again for a three-game series in August.
