Nedra Talley-Ross, the last original Ronette and co-founder of the iconic ’60s group behind Be My Baby, has died at 80, her family confirmed on Sunday.
Nedra Talley-Ross, a founding member of the groundbreaking 1960s girl group The Ronettes, has died. She was 80.
The group confirmed her death on Sunday in a social media statement, though her official cause of death was not disclosed.
“It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of Nedra Talley Ross’ passing,” the statement read. “She was a light to those who knew and loved her.” Talley-Ross co-founded The Ronettes alongside her cousins, Ronnie Spector and Estelle Bennett. The trio became one of the most influential acts of the 1960s, helping shape the sound of modern pop music. The group is best remembered for their landmark hit Be My Baby. The news follows Storage Wars’ Darrell Sheets taking his own life earlier this week.

She was the last surviving original member of the group.
“Nedra’s voice, style, and spirit helped define a sound that would change music,” the statement read. “Her contribution to the group’s story and their defining influence will live forever. Rest peacefully, dear Nedra. Thanks for the magic.”
Spector, widely considered one of rock’s most distinctive voices, died in January 2022. Bennett passed away in 2021, making Talley-Ross the final original member to survive.
The Ronettes were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2007.
Taking to X, fans mourned the death of the 80-year-old.
“Shame man, but at least she reached 80, not many have the luxury of seeing the big 80,” one user penned.
