On Sunday, September 7 at 1:30 p.m., the world-famous Laugh Factory comedy club in Los Angeles will roll out the red carpet for an extraordinary afternoon of humor, inspiration and celebration in support of Autism In Entertainment (autisminentertainment.org). The AIE Workgroup will present a an eclectic fundraiser program of stand-up comedians alongside live musical and improv performances, plus a special documentary short film premiere.
“There will be neurodivergent individuals involved in every aspect of this production,” said AIE Founder & Workgroup Chari Judi Uttal. “We practice what we preach! Employment is our main goal, and it is a pleasure to watch our members shine.”
Headlining the comedy showcase are stand-up talents Willie Hunter, Josh Meyrowitz, Nic Novicki, Alice Payne and Jeremiah Watkins as well as reality show fan-favorite Dani Bowman — known for her three-plus season series-regular status on Netflix’s Emmy Award-winning Love on the Spectrum and acclaimed work as an animator with her own studio/school Danimation (an official AIE educational partner) — reprising her recent Laugh Factory ‘90s animation trivia spectacular.
The event also marks the world premiere of Extraordinary Character, a mini-documentary directed by Alex Astrella. The film highlights powerful stories from neurodivergent individuals and spotlights their incredible talents and paths to achievement.
Staged acts from talented trainees of AIE Educational Partners Jazz Hands for Autism, The Miracle Project, Performing Arts Studio West, Spectrum Laboratory and Yes I Can Unity Through Music & Education are sure to be unforgettable. Attendees can look forward to surprise activations to add to the night’s excitement.
