LAUGHLIN (KSNV) — Laughlin’s tourism growth is getting a boost from an entertainment lineup that’s drawing visitors from across the region, with big-name concerts, revived special events and even affordable river tours adding to the appeal.
Country star Lainey Wilson headlined a big weekend in Laughlin, part of what local marketers describe as a growing list of major performers booking shows along the Colorado River, not just on the Las Vegas Strip. Jessica Macht, Golden Entertainment’s marketing lead in Laughlin, said the presence of stars such as Lainey Wilson, Jason Aldean and KISS is changing perceptions about what the area can attract.
“It’s, it’s amazing, and it’s, it’s, you know, with the people, don’t think of Laughlin and Bullhead City as having somebody like Lainey Wilson here, or Jason Aldean or KISS,” Macht said. “You know, that would get me from Vegas to come here, if KISS was my favorite band, right?”
Macht said the entertainment push includes acts aimed at multiple generations, with iconic bands such as White Snake, Los Lonley Boys and Slaughter also booked for Laughlin.
“They like the older, 60s, 70s, 80s. You know, Mickey Dolan’s, we have the village people, Gary Allen, some of those old country artists,” Macht said. “But then we also, you know, would like to appeal to that younger demographic, you know, for the Kid Rocks.”
Some visitors are also coming from Las Vegas for special events. Bo and Trisha Gardner said Laughlin “attract a different crowd,” and they traveled in for an annual entertainment event that was revived last year after a 20-year hiatus.
“We’ll always come down here any special event, and this weekend it’s the World’s Toughest Rodeo,” they said.
Laughlin’s comedy offerings are also expanding, according to Joaquin Trujillo, founder of the L.A. Comedy Club. Trujillo said the Laughlin location is stepping up with the same quality entertainment as its sister club on the Strip.
“All of our headliners have credentials,” Trujillo said. “We have JC price here. He had a contract with Nickelodeon. He was just on the reboot of Miami Vice we have Shane Forbes coming on out. Greg Wilson, you probably seen him turn on right now – he’ll be on progressive commercial. So all these guys are LA guys that we bring on out because they have that kind of exposure. We provide in the quality of the entertainment, but also making sure that you’re the right price.”
For visitors looking for something slower-paced than the Strip, Laughlin also offers an affordable option on the water. Sharon Sauer said families can take a weekday, 90-minute narrated scenic tour on the Colorado River.
“For our families, you know, we have a lot of family visitors here in Laughlin, and we have a family friendly scenic tour that’s a 90 minute narrated tour during the week,” Sauer said. “It’s $21 for adults and $14 for kids to come on and enjoy a 90 minute narrated tour and learn the history of our area.”
