Micky Dolenz, the last surviving member of The Monkees, will commemorate the band’s 60th anniversary by going on tour next year.
The tour will “take audiences on a joyful, musical journey through the Monkees’ history — performing the hits in chronological order, from the chart-topping classics to the fan favorites — all told with his signature warmth, wit, and stories,” Rolling Stone reported while citing a press release.
The 25-date tour will kick off in Solana Beach, California on Feb. 12, 2026 and wrap up in Northfield, Ohio on Sept. 12, 2026. The actual 60th anniversary of the premiere of the Monkees television show will fall on Sept. 12, 2026. On that date, Dolenz will play a special concert in Los Angeles. The venue has yet to be announced.
“I’ve spent nearly my entire life either in front of or behind the cameras or microphones,” Dolenz said statement, per Rolling Stone. “Much of what I’ve been able to share with the world has come from this thing called ‘The Monkees’ — this wacky musical-comedy TV show about a band struggling for success. Interestingly, on the show, the Monkees never actually made it. Off-screen, however, we sold out concerts all over the world.”
The 80-year-old continued, “I remain proud of what I’ve achieved in my time, particularly with my late great and still-beloved Monkee brothers Davy [Jones], Peter [Tork], and Michael. What I want to do, as the 60th anniversary of that wonderful moment is upon me, is to look back and share with the fans the sheer joy of what we accomplished—and what it all still means to so many.”
Dolenz, who began his entertainment career as child actor “Mickey Braddock” on the 1950s series Circus Boy, continues to maintain the band’s legacy following the deaths of his bandmates Jones in 2012, Tork in 2019 and Nesmith in 2021. Dolenz embarked on a solo tour in 2023 where he performed The Monkees 1967 album “Headquarters” in its entirety, according to Rolling Stone. Since then, he’s only played shows sporadically.
