Lewis Capaldi surprises fans by bringing out Royel Otis at Perth concert

Lewis Capaldi surprised thousands of fans at his Perth concert on Wednesday night by bringing out a special guest who performed a song with the star.

The 29-year-old Scottish singer returned to Australia after his 2023 appearances Down Under were cancelled, and excited fans filled RAC Arena with copious amounts of love as the star sang some of his most popular hits.

After he got 11 songs in for the evening, Capaldi surprised his audience by bringing out one half of Sydney indie pop duo Royel Otis.

Otis Pavlovic, who sings vocals alongside guitarist Royel Maddell, joined Capaldi on stage where they both sang a Royel Otis song from 2024 called Til the Morning.

Videos of the pair collaborating on stage soon flooded social media, with fans lapping up the cover and even calling for the pair to officially release it.

“I cannot believe Lewis Capaldi bought out Royel Otis tonight at Perth. Need to release this. Magical,” one fan said on TikTok.

Another fan said: “Lewis bringing out Royel Otis was not on my bingo card for Perth.”

“The most wholesome crossover,” a third said on Instagram.

Before Capaldi brought Pavlovic out on stage, he told the crowd how he loved so many Australian bands, but Royel Otis was one of his favourites.

“I love loads of bands in Australia, I’m a big fan of music from this part of the world,” he said.

“One of my favourite bands is a band called Royel Otis they’re a great band one of my favourite songs is called Til the Morning so I texted Otis and said would you come on and sing a song and he’s here today, welcome Otis.”

Royel Otis have been touring the US, North America and Australia this year and performed in Perth at the end of October for summer music series Ice Cream Factory.

Capaldi, who recently released his EP Survive, is set to take a short break over Christmas before heading to Abu Dhabi in January for another run of shows.
