Liam Gallagher has been welcomed into the Cotswolds community with open arms – after promising locals he wasn’t like ‘all those divvy celebrities’.
The Oasis star, 53, recently bought a £4.2million mansion in the village of Coates, near Cirencester, and now counts stars such as Sir David and Victoria Beckham as his neighbours.
The Wonderwall star is believed to have bought former England and Arsenal captain Tony Adams’ house – but he’s leaving his hellraiser ways behind him to embark on his new village life. Taking to X, Liam wrote: “To all the beautiful people from the Cotswolds, I come in peace.
“You won’t even know I’m there, I’m not like all those divvy celebrities who like to show off I’m LO FI as you were, LG x”.
Gallagher, who wrapped up a sell-out reunion tour with his brother Noel last year, had previously rented a house in Selsley near Stroud were he had been seen on Selsley Common walking his dog, Buttons. His new house is set on five acres of prime countryside and includes a pool, tennis courts and stable with a two-bedroom cottage also on the site.
Other celebrities believed to live in the area include Kate Moss, Simon Cowell and Ellen DeGeneres but the locals seem happy that Liam will be joining the ranks.
Drummer Luke Bartels, 30, manager at Elliot Arms in nearby Cirencester said: “I’m sure a lot of people will love he’s coming to the area. If he wants to pop at the Elliot Arms and we organise a jam I would be so up for that.”
Meanwhile, Oasis’ support act has insisted the Gallagher brothers do have another album in them. Liverpool rockers Cast opened for the Gallaghers on all of their reunion dates last summer and witnessed first hand the monumental power of their classic hits live.
Now they believe Oasis wouldn’t have any trouble writing a bunch of new anthems for a first album in 18 years. Singer John Power told the Daily Star: “I know Noel’s capable of writing one.
“Listening to the songs in the Oasis setlist I don’t know anyone else who’s got that sort of anthemic chorus catalogue. If Noel can write a a great tune, we know that Liam can deliver it. So it’s really down to how they feel.
“I think creativity comes, and it happens then you have to capture it like a spark.”
On stage the brothers appeared closer than ever and backstage it was the same, he confirmed. He said: “In life if you have a fall out with someone, there’s nothing better than burying that. It’s such a relief to get rid of all that stress and to just kind of make up. Noel was playing his songs. Liam was singing his heart out. We were there cheering them on.
“It was quite a life affirming experience. I think I’ll always be touched by what I experienced.”
