Liam Hemsworth is still over the moon about his engagement to Gabriella Brooks.
“I’m incredibly excited. I did it a few months ago,” Hemsworth, 35, said of proposing to Brooks, 29, during his appearance on the Today show on Monday, October 27. “We’re super excited. It’s a happy time in my life.”
Brooks announced their engagement via Instagram on September 12, sharing photos that showed off her gorgeous ring. She captioned the post with a white heart emoji.
Weeks after sharing the engagement news, the couple stepped out for their first red carpet event as fiancés on October 23. The Isn’t It Romantic actor and the model coordinated in navy ensembles as they cozied up together at the premiere of The Witcher season 4 in London.
Hemsworth and Brooks first sparked romance rumors in December 2019 when they were spotted having lunch with the Hunger Games star’s parents in Byron Bay, Australia. A source exclusively told Us Weekly at the time that Hemsworth felt “comfortable” with Brooks. The couple even quarantined together during the COVID-19 pandemic, with an insider telling Us at the time that Hemsworth was happy to “spend his downtime with Gabriella.”
While Hemsworth and Brooks have kept their relationship mostly private, they have shared glimpses of their romance via social media, oftentimes featuring Hemsworth’s family. Brooks gushed about her now-fiancé’s loved ones in a 2021 interview with Stellar, calling them “great.” (Liam’s family includes parents Leonie and Craig Hemsworth and older brothers Luke and Chris Hemsworth.)

Discussing her privacy with Liam, Brooks said, “My personal relationship is very, very important and very sacred to me. And I feel like in an industry where so much is put out on show, there are some things you just want to keep to yourself. I completely understand [the interest in our relationship]. But at the end of the day, I guess I just like having that for me.”
A source told Us that same year that Liam and Brooks had been “getting serious.”
“They’re not ones to make it known to the public, but their friends and family sure are in the know about how close they are and how an engagement can be right around the corner,” the insider said at the time. “Liam looks up to his brothers and would love to one day also have that long-lasting marriage with a partner. He’s ready to be a husband — he just wants to be super confident in his relationship with Gabriella before he gets down on one knee!”

Liam was previously married to Miley Cyrus for eight months, from December 2018 until August 2019. The exes, who dated on and off for years after meeting on the set of The Last Song in 2010, finalized their divorce in January 2020.
A source told Us in March 2020 that Liam’s relationship with Brooks is different from his romance with Cyrus, 32.
“He feels more at home with Gabriella than he did with Miley and feels like he can be his complete self without any drama,” the insider explained. “Gabriella helped Liam boost his confidence and played an encouraging role in his life after his split with Miley.
