Today’s Verse: Proverbs 16:28 (NKJV)
“A perverse man sows strife,
And a whisperer separates the best of friends.”
The Bible is brutally clear about what God thinks of gossip and those who spread it. A troublemaker is not just someone with a loud personality, but a fraudulent person who plants seeds that push people apart. Gossip is not “just talking”; it is tale-bearing with the intent to hurt, to divide, and to isolate. In our social media world, a single post, comment, or rumor can devastate a life, and we are watching an epidemic of anxiety, despair, and even suicide unfold under the weight of online cruelty.
So today, ask the Lord to search your heart and cleanse your lips of anything that sows strife or spreads hurt. Repent of any gossip you have participated in, whether spoken, texted, or posted, and pray for those who have been wounded by lies, bullying, or slander, especially the young.
