OGDEN — If you want to entertain spirited crowds at the Ogden Amphitheater this holiday season, best get a move on.
Following the Ogden City Arts press release earlier this month announcing that slots had opened up for entertainers at Christmas Village, Ogden City Marketing and Communication Coordinator Regina Esparza told the Standard-Examiner Wednesday that 35 different performance groups with over 700 individual performers have signed up.
“As always, the community is excited to perform during Christmas Village, and our opening slots were filled quickly,” she said. “It is still more than a month away from the event’s beginning, and our calendar is practically full.”
She said that as of Wednesday, just three spots remain and are expected to go quick.
“Performances are 30 minutes and should be mostly holiday themed,” she said. “We provide a very nice sound system and really talented sound engineers. Everyone should prepare to attend or perform in freezing temperatures and be conscious about inclement weather.”
According to the release, this year’s theme is “Rockin’ Around Christmas Village.”
“School choirs and other performing groups are scheduled for Monday, Wednesday and Saturday (November 29th through December 22nd) on the Ogden Amphitheater stage,” the release said. “Groups can sign up for 30-minute increments, and large groups can sign up for more than one slot. Time slots are in the evening at 6 p.m., 6:45 p.m., and 7:30 p.m. Performances can range in genre and group size but must be largely based on holiday themes. These scheduled times are first-come, first-served.”
The release adds that the city does help with some of the needs of performers.
“The Ogden Amphitheater will provide PA/mics, aux input, choir risers (when requested) and stage décor,” the release said. “The performing group will be responsible for all other needs. Each group should prepare to perform in freezing temperatures and snow. Please dress according to the weather. Some inclement weather may cause delays or cancellations.
