MILLBURY – A large crowd gathered at the Blackstone Valley 14 Cinema de Lux Friday, Nov. 14, as a shiny white limousine pulled up to the building, holding the guest of honor, Angelo Gray.
Gray, 12, with friends and family, was at the theater for his Hollywood debut in “The Running Man,” a feature-length film in which Gray has a small speaking role.
Those in attendance greeted Gray with hugs and handshakes, many asking for a picture or snapping a quick selfie, some even asked for his autograph, among them Mayor Joseph M. Petty.
“He actually has a signature now. I think this is pretty cool. I’m going to put that in a frame, so when you’re a big star, when you’re on your way, it’s going to be worth a lot of money. I’m going to keep that,” Petty said.
Gray greeted everyone in attendance with a smile, saying during an interview, “I think it’s really cool. It feels really good that everyone is really happy for me.”
Prior to the showing of the movie, Petty and District C School Committee Member Dianna Biancheria gave Gray a key to the city of Worcester.
Although being back home in Central Massachusetts to watch the movie on Friday, Gray previously traveled to New York City for the premiere, but he said his favorite place he saw while working on “The Running Man” was Glasgow, Scotland.
Glen Powell and Daniel Ezra star in the film. Gray said he learned a lot from the two actors and said they were some of his favorite people on set.
“The Running Man” hits theaters the same day as Gray’s special showing, on Nov. 14.
