Scream 7 has had a bit of a rocky path, but it looks like nothing will stop the film from being released. After Melissa Barrera was fired and Jenna Ortega dropped the project due to political reasons, director Christopher Landon also left the movie.
Kevin Williamson, who wrote the original, along with Scream 2 and Scream 4, took over as director and is bringing back a lot of familiar faces. It has now been confirmed by Paramount that Scream 7 will be released in theaters on February 27, 2026. They also revealed the first logo for the movie.
There is not too much to go on with the logo. The font is still the same, but it is interesting that there’s a knife slash through the Scream name. It remains to be seen if that’ll have any significance.
Williamson and company have stayed very tight-lipped about the movie outside of revealing the return of Matthew Lillard, among other franchise favorites. Knowing Williamson, he could lean into his love for meta storytelling for this movie.
He broke ground with the original Scream, so why not try to do something fresh for a franchise that’s about to have its seventh entry?
