A Jumanji sequel is officially in the works, six years after the last instalment, Jumanji: The Next Level (2019), premiered.
Confirming the news in an interview with Variety, Dwayne Johnson revealed that he’s reuniting with Kevin Hart to work on “Jumanji 3” this November, adding: “The films that I made in the past, I love them. I’ll go back to making them again.”
The film, which is scheduled for theatrical release on 11 December 2026, will also star Karen Gillan and Jack Black. Jake Kasdan, who directed the first two instalments, is back for the third, while the franchise’s writing duo, Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg, have signed on, too.
Back in 2021, producer Hiram Garcia explained that Jumanji 3 had been scheduled to enter production after Red One, which debuted on Prime Video in 2024, had been completed.
“We’ve got a big vision for [the next Jumanji] movie. So we’re fired up for that,” he said.

“We’re taking it in soon. And obviously the goal is sometime after… Jake [Kasdan] is doing Red One for us, so that is going to be next up. But sometime after Red One comes out, Jumanji is going to be on deck. I feel like we’ll have everything ready by then, and we’ll be able to get into that third instalment.”
Giving fans a welcome update in 2023, Hart clarified that the third film would be the final entry in the franchise. “We need something big to put our duo to an end, and not just leave it undone,” he shared with Variety.

The following year, when Gillan was asked about the movie’s ongoing delay, she told The Hollywood Reporter: “I’m sure it’s tricky to wrangle everyone’s schedules, but I haven’t heard anything about it other than the fact that we will be doing it at some point. So we’re all so enthusiastic about it. We all love working on those films, and it’s just a matter of when.”
Jumanji 3 is expected to land in cinemas on 11 December 2026.
