The Franke Center for the Arts, 214 E. Mansion St., Marshall, is set to host two unique musical events in September.
Wilson Thicket, a bluegrass band, will perform Sept. 20, followed by Djangophonique, a jazz group, on Sept. 27, according to a community announcement.
Wilson Thicket is known for its blend of Appalachian string band soul and creative covers. The group features top singers, instrumentalists and songwriters from Michigan, offering a mix of old-school favorites and original songs.
Djangophonique, winners of a WCYE “Jammies” award for Artist of the Year, brings the energy of Django Reinhardt’s jazz manouche to the stage. The Speakeasy Night event encourages attendees to dress in 1920s attire, with vintage cocktails available at the bar. The performance will take place in The Franke’s Downstage Club, which has limited seating.
“These are going to be a couple of awesome shows that will really showcase the range and variety of performers we host,” Jacob Gates, The Franke Center’s executive director, said in the announcement. “We couldn’t be more excited.”
Tickets can be purchased at thefranke.org or by calling the box office at 269-781-0001.
The Franke Center for the Arts programming is supported in part by funding from the Michigan Arts and Culture Council and the National Endowment for the Arts.
