Lori Loughlin and her husband of 28 years, Mossimo Giannulli, announced on Oct. 2 that they had separated.
The news, first reported by People, took fans by surprise since they’ve remained a united front since their college admissions scandal and subsequent jail sentences. Loughlin’s representative, Elizabeth Much, was firm that no divorce filings have occurred so far.
“They are living apart and taking a break from their marriage. There are no legal proceedings at this time,” she told the media outlet.
Still, there might have been a few hints that things were not so rosy in their marriage after they put their $16.5 million Hidden Hills, California, estate on the market. They had purchased it only five years ago for $9.5 million. In addition, the Full House star was spotted getting cozy with the late Anne Heche‘s ex, James Tupper, on Oct. 1. (See the snapshots here.)

Loughlin and Tupper starred in several movies together: Fall Into Winter and A Christmas Blessing. The photos, taken at celebrity hotspot The Bird Streets Club, show the duo in an embrace by the valet stand that the Daily Mail described as a “comforting” hug. Right now, there’s no indication that their friendship has turned romantic, especially on the heels of her split from Giannulli.
Page Six spoke to Loughlin’s rep, who confirmed the platonic relationship. “Lori and James have worked together and are old friends,” they said.
Loughlin and Giannulli faced significant stress in their marriage when they were implicated in the 2019 college admissions scandal. They paid mastermind Rick Singer $500,000 to get their daughters, Olivia Jade, 26, and Isabella Rose, 27, into the University of Southern California on the crew team even though they were not athletes.
The former Hallmark star served two months in prison, and the fashion designer spent nearly five months in prison. They married in 1997.
Tupper was involved with Heche from 2007 to 2018 and shared son, Atlas, 16. They never married, and the actress passed away in 2022 after her car crashed into a home in Los Angeles and burst into flames. She was 53 years old.
