A Love Is Blind contestant has opened up on the terrifying moment she thought she was going to lose her sight
A season 10 Love Is Blind contestant was forced to temporarily suspend filming after being rushed to hospital due to a medical emergency.
The tenth series of the popular Netflix programme has made its return, featuring 32 fresh singletons seeking romance in Ohio. As with previous seasons, the prospective couples will date from separate pods, never setting eyes on each other initially.
It’s only after they’ve progressed in their relationship and got engaged that they’ll come face to face for the first time. Following this, they’ll cohabit whilst preparing for their big day, though as Love Is Blind viewers know, the journey isn’t always straightforward.
This week (February 11), the opening six episodes dropped, introducing audiences to the newly formed couples. However, fans will need to exercise patience for the subsequent batch, which won’t arrive until Wednesday, February 18.
One participant, though, had to pause filming temporarily after being taken to hospital following a health incident. Elissa, a 38 year old ICU nurse, disclosed the moment she required hospitalisation before making her comeback to the programme, reports OK!.
The opening episode descended into turmoil when she was spotted dashing into the women’s communal space, shouting: “Oh my God what do I do?”
In a state of distress, she exclaimed: “I can’t believe I did that” whilst a producer intervened to settle her nerves. They could be heard reassuring her: “I know, you’re scared right now… We’re going to have to send you out.”
During the second episode, Elissa was shown returning to the female contestants’ accommodation, telling everyone she had “missed them all so much”.
She then recounted the alarming incident in which she mistakenly applied nail glue to her eye instead of eye drops, necessitating an emergency hospital visit to have her eye thoroughly rinsed.
Speaking on the programme, she revealed: “It still hurts a little bit.” She explained: “I go in and there’s a little bottle there, I wanted to put eye drops in my eye… it was nail glue.”
Elissa went on: “I was scared. I thought I was going to lose sight like nail glue what the f***.”
Describing the ordeal as “awful”, Elissa stated she “can’t believe” she made such an error and had to seek medical attention. Nevertheless, she promptly headed back to the pods to resume her search for the perfect match.
Despite lingering discomfort following her treatment, Elissa pressed ahead with the show, whilst one of her fellow Love Is Blind participants quipped: “Love is half blind.”
Love Is Blind is available to stream on Netflix.
