Lucid Express are a dreamy guitar-pop band from Hong Kong who played the shoegaze-focused Slide Away festival here in New York earlier this year. It’s been a while since they put out their self-titled debut back in 2021, but this week they’ve announced their first batch of official new music since then: Lucid Express’ sophomore album Instant Comfort is out in February, and lead single “Something Blue” is out now.
Instant Comfort was mixed by Kurt Feldman, who’s worked with dream-pop legends like the Pains Of Being Pure At Heart and Depreciation Guild. The wash of guitars on “Something Blue” are equal parts jangly and noisy, a nice backdrop for its romantic, bittersweet lyrics: “It’s not everyday we ask for something blue.
