Actor Luke Grimes revealed that his 18-month-old son, Rigel, had a sweet reaction to seeing him in a cowboy hat.
Luke also shared what it was like to have his family near him while filming Marshals.
Yellowstone fans love Luke Grimes as Kayce Dutton—but one important person in his life may have another opinion.
Fans of the actor and country singer are familiar with the fact that Luke’s back on TV in the new series Marshals. With episodes of the Yellowstone spinoff airing every Sunday night on CBS, viewers get to see Luke reprise his role as Kayce, while also following the character as he starts a new life as a U.S. marshal in Texas.
Even though many people are excited that Luke has put on his cowboy hat once again, he shared that his 18-month-old son, Rigel, whom he shares with his wife, Bianca Rodrigues, isn’t exactly into his latest gig. In fact, Luke revealed on the March 3 taping of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon that the young boy had a surprising reaction when brought to dad’s work for the first time.
“I took him to my set the other day, my job,” he revealed in a clip shared on TikTok on March 4. “I wanted to introduce him to everybody. Very excited for that. And he just kept laughing at my cowboy hat the entire time, making me feel very uncool about something I’m supposed to feel really cool about!”
Although Jimmy tried to placate Luke by saying he does, in fact, look good in a cowboy hat, the actor explained that his son isn’t into the idea of him wearing the attire at work.
“Well, you look really cool when you do wear a cowboy hat,” Jimmy mollified him.
“It started with him just pointing and laughing,” Luke added. “Now, when he’s at home, he’ll find any big funny thing, put it on his head, and start singing a ‘dada song.’ Literally anything! A bag, laundry—it doesn’t matter. Something big that should not be on your head. And he’ll sing the ‘dada song.’”
When fans learned how Luke’s son felt about him wearing country gear, they had to share their thoughts in the comments.
“Luke Grimes’ son is a mini Kayce Dutton already,” one person wrote. “Someone needs to get that baby a cowboy hat so he can be like his daddy,” another noted. “Having children keeps you humble 😁,” a different follower added.
It looks like Luke will need to bring his son to work more often … and maybe get him a small cowboy hat to match his daddy! Luckily, Luke’s kid will get used to seeing him in full costume, as the actor noted his family is with him whenever he has a new project.
“They were with me the entire time,” he told People about Bianca and their son being alongside him while filming Marshals. “They basically moved to Park City for the entire shoot. They were five minutes from the sound stage, so they would come all the time … He doesn’t understand why I have that big thing on my head, but he loves it.”
