Madison Beer Reimagines a ‘Tale As Old As Time’ for New Music Video

It’s new music Friday, and—finally!—it’s Madison Beer’s turn to dominate the sound waves.

Following the official release of her new album locket, Beer gave the world a music video for her single “bad enough.” The pop princess, who co-directed the music video, can be seen wearing several noteworthy ensembles in the visual, including a light blue dress resembling that of Goldilocks’s cottagecore signature piece. It’s pretty and elegant, almost making Beer look like a heroine from a fairytale story.

Another favorite from the music video was her leather mini dress with the most gorgeous polka dot design displayed throughout. This was certainly an unforgettable look. The same applies to the final look from Beer, which was a stunning pearl white dress. These ensembles were all very chic and lovely, serving as the perfect juxtaposition to the beastly figure that Beer finds herself smitten by in the visual.

As the story in the cinematic goes, despite her monstrous lover exhibiting all the red flags a creature could show, Beer’s character excuses them all. Be it for undying love or because she simply doesn’t know any better, the beauty in this modern-day Beauty and the Beast retelling isn’t letting him go.

The theme of being entranced in a dream-like romance isn’t only found in “bad enough,” as several other tracks in the Grammy Award-nominated musician’s third studio album also speak to this concept. Case in point, “yes baby,” an electrifying declaration of submittance, and “for the night,” a hazy confession of her desire to keep her love by her side.

Her other somber tracks teeter on the line of devotion and heartbreak, feelings that, while familiar to her fanbase, take on a whole new life in locket. Beer tells Rolling Stone that this project is far more elevated, reflecting the most current version of herself.

“I think that it feels more evolved,” she told the outlet. “It feels very true to where I’m at now. I mean, all of my albums, I feel like, have been very different and are all really good for that time that I’m in. And that’s how this feels.”

She went on, adding, “It feels like a really great little time capsule of where I was at when I made it, and I’m excited for people to hear it. I think it feels different than anything I’ve ever done.”

locket is now streaming on Spotify, Apple Music and other major platforms.
