  • The former costars both made cameos in Sabrina Carpenter’s headlining set during weekend 2 of the festival.

  • Madge sang some classics and a new track with Carpenter, while Davis portrayed an older version of the “Espresso” singer, delivering a dramatic monologue.

There’s no crying in baseball — and there certainly wasn’t any at Coachella!

Madonna and Geena Davis were pure joy striking a pose together during the second weekend of the music festival after they both popped up in Sabrina Carpenter’s headlining set, resulting in a little A League of Their Own reunion that was an absolute home run.

“Mae — so happy to see you again! Love, Dottie,” Davis captioned an Instagram post showing the two of them together, shouting out their characters in the 1992 film.

Fans were thrilled with their reunion, quoting the movie in the post’s comments.

“Mae?? All the Way Mae??” one fan wrote, calling back to Madonna’s character’s nickname. “HAS ANYONE SEEN MY NEW RED HAT?” another wrote.

“I know there’s no crying in baseball, but I’m literally crying 😭😭😭,” a third wrote, quoting perhaps the most well-known line from the movie.

Madge surprised Coachella attendees by joining Carpenter on stage to perform her hits “Vogue” and “Like a Prayer” along with new music from her upcoming album, Confessions on a Dance Floor: Part II.

During the set, the pop icon reflected on her Coachella debut more than two decades ago. “I was in the dance tent, and it was the first time I performed Confessions on a Dance Floor: Part I in America,” she said. “So you can imagine what a thrill to be back 22 years later in the same boots, in the same corset… the jacket I had on earlier, the same Gucci jacket?” she said. “So it’s a full circle moment, you know? Very meaningful for me.”

Davis appeared in the set as well, playing an older version of the “Espresso” singer. Sitting in a classic car at a drive-in theater, she reminisced on “what it was like to be a star.”

“@Sabrinacarpenter, thank you from the bottom of my heart for inviting me to join you at Sabrinawood!” the actress wrote on Instagram on April 19, sharing moments from the music festival. “It was the most joyous, magical, unforgettable experience!”

She continued, “Thank you to the fabulous @coreyfogelmanis for helping me settle my tab! All of the love and respect to my glam team for transforming me into an older version of the one and only Sabrina Carpenter! And a big round of applause for the wig — the true star of the show ⭐️.”

Davis’ appearance also made for a sort of Thelma & Louise reunion. During the first weekend of Coachella, Susan Sarandon delivered a version of the same monologue Davis recited for weekend 2, also portraying an older version of Carpenter looking back on her glory days.

Carpenter said her headlining set at the music festival would be “the most ambitious show I’ve ever done” in an interview published days before her performance. “It’s probably the most time I’ve ever had to actually just sit down and talk about a show as I’m building it,” she told Marc Jacobs in a conversation for Perfect magazine.

“Most of the time, you’re really quickly thrust into physical rehearsals,” said Carpenter, “but this time around we started this process around seven months ago. So it’s been a long journey. It will be very special.”

She wasn’t kidding.
