Madonna has announced the release date, title and cover art of her next music project.
‘Confessions II’, her 15th studio album, will debut on July 3. It is the sequel to her 2005 album, ‘Confessions on a Dance Floor’, which was inspired by disco and electropop.
Madonna is working with British producer, Stuart Price, who also worked on her first ‘Confessions’ album.
“When Stuart Price and I first started working on this record, this was our manifesto: We must dance, celebrate, and pray with our bodies. These are things that we’ve been doing for thousands of years — they really are spiritual practices,” the 76-year-old said in a statement, per GMA.
“After all, the dance floor is a ritualistic space. It’s a place where you connect with your wounds, with your fragility. To rave is an art. It’s about pushing your limits and connecting to a community of like-minded people.”
The statement also featured lyrics from one of the album’s songs.
“People think that dance music is superficial, but they’ve got it all wrong. The dance floor is not just a place, it’s a threshold: A ritualistic space where movement replaces language.”
Fans also got a sneak peek of what they can expect from the singer’s new album, which is also styled ‘Confessions on a Dance Floor: Part II’.
According to the visuals in the teaser video, the song is track one on the album and is called ‘I Feel So Free’.
“Thanks for coming. Sometimes, I like to just hide in the shadows, create a new persona, a different identity. I can be whoever I want to be, create a new persona. Honestly, I wish I could be like other people and just not care, but out here on the dance floor I feel so free,” she whispers in the intro.
Fans are already in love with the house track.
“I mean this intro alone already tells us this album is going on to be good!” one YouTuber wrote. A second Madonna fan commented: “I’m feeling a #1 single and a #1 album coming from this!”
A third person said: “I have now listened to this clip very [sic] unhealthy number of times.”
