Madonna is back with a new album, “Confessions II,” out on Friday, July 3, on Warner Records.
It’s safe to say that this was one of the most anticipated albums of the summer, because when Madonna talks, people listen.
Madonna teamed up with producer Stuart Price, the same producer behind her Grammy award-winning “Confessions on a Dance Floor,” for the new set. The album, according to an official release, “explores themes of love, trauma, loss and healing.”
“The album reinforces Madonna’s enduring belief that dance music is far from superficial: the dance floor is a lifeline, a place for escapism, connection and survival – it will save you every time,” the release describes of the inspiration behind the set.
Madonna already has a No. 1 Billboard Dance Airplay song from the set in “I Feel So Free,” which arrived earlier this year. She also debuted the catchy “Bring Your Love” featuring Sabrina Carpenter at Coachella.

But, what makes this album really special is that it features her daughter, Lola Leon on the personal song “The Test.” The two co-wrote the song, and it features “deeply personal lyrics reflecting the healing and progression of their relationship,” per the release. That’s a first for Madonna, teaming up with her daughter for a song. Another first on the record is the pop star working with Dutch DJ and producer Martin Garrix on the song “Bizarre.”
In other news, last month, Madonna premiered “Confessions II – The Film” at the 25th Tribeca Film Festival. The movie, directed by TORSO, features a full-scale, cinematic experience bringing the new album’s first six songs to life. It combines music, film and performance art, which is something Madonna has always done.
