London-based soul outfit Mamas Gun has officially joined the roster of Blue Élan Records, marking a significant milestone in their career. To usher in the new chapter, the band has released a deeply soulful single, “Food for the Flames.”

“Food for the Flames” was born from a collaboration between guitarist Terry Lewis and lead singer Andy Platts. Recorded straight to analog tape, the track embraces warmth and depth, attuned to the band’s signature modern soul aesthetic. Thematically, it leans into the metaphor of fire: love, the song suggests, must be tended with care and fueled constantly to remain alive. The lyrics explore vulnerability, communication, and the everyday effort of keeping relational embers burning bright.

The band has tested the song extensively on the road over the past two years, and according to bassist Cameron Dawson, it’s become a live favorite. “We knew when we heard this song that this was a special one,” he says. “There was a real excitement in the room—the sort that sends shivers.”

By signing to Blue Élan Records, Mamas Gun deepens their connections within the modern soul world. Notably, Andy Platts already has ties to the label through his other project, Young Gun Silver Fox. The move feels less like a commercial pivot and more like a homecoming—one that aligns with the band’s artistic priorities.

“For us, success is not about selling millions of records,” Platts explains. “But about making better records with each step we take—and really connecting with people through the music.”

“Food for the Flames” is out now globally. But Mamas Gun isn’t stopping there. The band is gearing up for what they describe as their most extensive live run yet: first touring across the U.K. and Europe, then expanding to the U.S. and Asia in 2026.
