Law & Order: SVU star Mariska Hargitay will make her Broadway debut in Every Brilliant Thing this May.
Ahead of her first performance on May 26, Mariska surprised fans by cutting her hair into a chic new bob.
The cut occurred ahead of the Law & Order: SVU season 27 finale on May 14.
Mariska Hargitay is entering a new era in her career—and she’s making sure her look reflects it.
Back in April, fans of the Law & Order: SVU star were ecstatic to learn she would be hitting the Broadway stage in the Tony-nominated play Every Brilliant Thing. She’ll take over for Daniel Radcliffe on May 26, and the one-person show will mark Mariska’s first appearance on the Great White Way.
But the actress had another surprise up her sleeve: She chopped her hair into a chic bob for the occasion—and her hairstylist, Adir Abergel, celebrated it with a collection of photos on Instagram.
“NEW CUT FOR THE ONE AND ONLY @therealmariskahargitay BROADWAY DEBUT IN @brilliantbway ❤️❤️❤️❤️,” Adir wrote in the caption on May 4.
Shortly after Adir broke the internet with Mariska’s unexpectedly bold hair transformation, she got in on the conversation.
“Switching gears,” she replied in the comments.
Fans couldn’t get enough of the look.
“New hairdo who dis? ✂️ Rockin the bob for Broadway! 🔥 Love it!” one person exclaimed. “OBSESSED with the bob!!! It is so so good. How rude of Mariska to be able to pull off basically anything and look absolutely fabulous,” another penned. “OMG???? Idk, QUEEN OF HAIR. Everything suits you. 🔥,” a different follower added.
Fans know this isn’t the first time Mariska has sparked conversation over her hairstyle. She famously chopped her hair into a pixie ahead of season 3 of Law & Order: SVU back in 2002.
“My hairstylist had a glass of wine, and I really should have known better,” she told Allure in September 2025. “Maybe he’d thought I’d be aerodynamic when I was chasing perps. I have no idea. We went real short—shorter than anticipated. I almost got fired.”
Well, we don’t think that will happen this time around!
