Mark Consuelos shared the sign he says he received from his late father while attending Sunday’s Mexico vs. England game of the World Cup.
“We felt him there,” Consuelos said of his father, Saul Consuelos, on Monday’s episode of Live With Kelly and Mark.
The actor shared the tragic news of his father’s death on Live With Kelly and Mark in April.
Mark Consuelos got more than a great game when he attended Sunday’s World Cup match between Mexico and England.
During Monday’s episode of Live With Kelly and Mark, the cohost shared that he received a sign during the intense match from his late father, Saul Consuelos, three months after the actor announced his death on air.
Consuelos shared a video of his journey to Mexico City where the game was hosted, including a clip of the actor with a butterfly perched on his arm, and another shot of him holding up a photo with his father with the massive soccer field as a backdrop. “You know, it was such a meaningful thing — I mean, just as a football fan to witness this historical match, but my dad, you know, he passed away in March and he was such a Mexico fan. He would be so happy,” Consuelos told the audience.
“So, my brother and I were like, ‘Let’s make a pilgrimage. Let’s go see if we can try to make this game,’” he went on, adding that the duo “threw it together” last second.

Consuelos recalled that there had been an hour delay to the start of the game because of a “fierce lightning storm” that was “pretty dangerous,” and left the brothers just sitting there in the stadium.
“And the rain stopped and all of a sudden this little butterfly flew on my arm and then flew on [his brother’s arm],” he shared. “That’s my dad!”
Ripa interjected that she had a similar sentiment to the moment, sharing that she was shortly told after that “there are no butterflies there in Azteca.”
Ripa continued, “[Elsa] was like, ‘That’s Mark’s dad. He came to visit them.’ And I’m so happy that you two got to do that and that you had that time together and that I feel like your dad was there with you.”
Consuelos agreed, emphasizing that he and his brother “felt him there,” which boosted the already charged emotions of attending the historic game. “I love the World Cup; it really brings the world together,” the Riverdale actor added. “I mean, the English fans and the Mexican fans were mixing. It was really, really great.”
Consuelos paid tribute to his father’s legacy alongside his wife, while announcing his death on the April 22 episode of Live With Kelly and Mark.
“You were blessed more because you knew him his whole life. I only got to know my father-in-law for 31 years. But they were the best 31 years of my life,” Ripa, Consuelos’ wife of nearly 30 years with whom he shares three children, added. “I can honestly say I will miss him every day for the rest of my life, as I know you will, as our children will. He was the greatest person I’ve ever known. He really is so symbolic of everything you are.”
