Bringing the energy is what Mega Ran specializes in. You’ll see that today in the premiere of his new music video for “Have a Great Time.” It’s from his latest album, Buddy’s Magic Tree House, which was released at the beginning of the summer. It doesn’t matter what age you are; Ran is that sparkplug that can get the vibes going.
The video for “Have a Great Time” is vibrant and colourful, bursting with energy and positivity. The song is a celebration of friendship, laughter, and living in the moment. It effortlessly appeals to people of all ages. It’s ideal for not just kids but families as well, looking to enjoy something together. Adults often dismiss what they deem to be children’s music. Directed by D. Carter for 909 Directive, the video clip is simple, straightforward, and effective. Commenting on the shoot, Mega Ran tells us:
“Wow! What started off as a hot shoot day in a warehouse in AZ turned into probably the most fun I’ve had on a video set in years. Carter really captured the essence and importance of playtime, which is what the song is all about. I couldn’t be more proud of the vibe, colour, and pizazz we were able to bring. I hope anybody watching remembers to take some time out of the day to just chill out, smile, and ‘Have A Great Time!’”
The last few years have been like a whirlwind for Mega Ran. Previously a teacher, he also had experience as a rapper and video game music composer. It was 2022 when he and his wife decided to become foster parents. Being exposed to this whole new world and lifestyle completely changed his approach to making music. He went on to write and record the album Buddy’s Magic Toy Box, which came out in September of 2023. The album didn’t take long to catch fire, debuting as the #2 Kids Music album in the United States, second only to the soundtrack to the massive animated film Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.
With such impressive success, the path forward seemed pretty clear for Mega Ran. He began focusing on all-ages music and playing live at places where he could connect with family audiences, like museums, parks, and libraries. His song “The Library Jawn” has become an anthem for reading advocates. He connects now with crowds of all ages who have responded so positively to his songs about friendship, love, affirmations, and healthy eating habits.
Sometimes things don’t go the way you drew them up, but even if that’s the case, you often end up getting to a place you’re happy to wind up. That’s essentially Mega Ran’s story in a nutshell.
