Megadeth have unveiled the song “I Don’t Care” as the second single from the legendary thrash band’s upcoming final album, a self-titled effort set to arrive on January 23rd.
“How many times have you wanted to say this to someone?,” stated frontman Dave Mustaine of the song in a press release. “I know you want to! Deep down inside, if we had the balls, we would tell more people, ‘I don’t care’ more often.”
Mustaine also revealed that the genesis of the song began during the sessions for Megadeth’s previous album, 2022’s The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead!, noting, “Part of the main riff in this track had been floating around in my head since we did TSTD&TD, so I was pumped to start recording ‘I Don’t Care’ for this LP.”

He added, “I really love the guitar nuances in the track. There is the main rhythm riff, next, a very deliberate down-picking part, next, the octave chords with jump picking on octave notes (while still down-picking!). And the soloing and back and forth between me and Teemu [Mäntysaari] is magnificent!!”
“I Don’t Care” follows the album’s first single, “Tipping Point,” which arrived last month. Fans can also look forward to the album’s inclusion of a new version of Metallica’s “Ride the Lightning,” which Mustaine co-wrote when he was still a member of the metal titans back in the day.
In addition to releasing their final album, Megadeth are set to embark on their farewell tour beginning in 2026, although Mustaine recently said the outing may last up to five years. For now, the band’s itinerary includes a Latin American jaunt in the spring, European festivals in June, and a stint supporting Iron Maiden’s North American tour beginning in late August.
