Megadeth have released ‘Let There Be Shred’, the latest single from their upcoming farewell album.

The legendary thrash metal band announced their plans to retire earlier this year with a farewell album and tour. “There’s so many musicians that have come to the end of their career, whether accidental or intentional,” Mustaine explained in a social media post. “Most of them don’t get to go out on their own terms on top, and that’s where I’m at in my life right now.”

So far, the album has been previewed by two singles: ‘Tipping Point’ and ‘I Don’t Care’. Now, they’ve shared the high-octane ‘Let There Be Shred’.

“When Megadeth started we said we would be fast and furious…we said so on the flyers we handed out,” Dave Mustaine said in a statement about the track.

“This song is fast and furious. Know it! It has a very hooky chorus that draws you in and you can’t help but play air guitar and headbang to this one.”

It comes alongside a Keith Leman-directed music video, which sees Mustaine participate in a mixed martial arts battle.

“It was a blast to make and it’s a tribute to my first Sensei, Benny ‘The Jet’ Urquidez, and my Professor, Reggie Almieda,” Mustaine explained. “Everyone on the set was really stoked to see each of us do our stunts. In the end, we got the balance of shredding and ass kicking just right!”

Check it out below.

In other news, Mustaine revealed that he would like for Megadeth’s final show to take place in space. “I think that will be a really fitting climax,” he said.

“And I’m not talking about on the side of a vomit comet. A gig on the Moon, a full moon landing, that would be cool. I saw they sent up a bunch of celebrities into space and I thought ‘Well, if them, why not me?’, you know?’

Elsewhere, Mustaine recently shared that Megadeth’s farewell run of shows could last “for another three to five years”. Mustaine has previously revealed that the band will be covering Metallica classic ‘Ride The Lightning’ for their final album, explaining: “One of the songs is a cover song but I actually wrote it, so it’s kind of like a cover, kind of like my song.”
