Prince Harry has reportedly left senior Royal Family members “outraged” after sending a “string of demands on behalf of Meghan” ahead of his return to the UK later this year.
The Duke of Sussex, 41, is expected to be back on British soil in July to attend a one-year countdown event for the Invictus Games Birmingham 2027, as well as the WellChild Awards.
It has not been confirmed whether the Duchess of Sussex, 44, will join him, but an insider has claimed Harry is making arrangements to ensure she feels as comfortable as possible in his home country.
“Harry is coming in with all these demands on behalf of Meghan, and it’s rubbing a lot of people up the wrong way,” a source told Heat World.
“Harry says he has no choice, based on how badly things have gone in the past.
“The last thing he wants is Meghan walking into a situation where she feels judged, and he says all he’s asking is that she’s treated with basic respect and not cast as the bad guy before anything’s even happened.”
According to the insider, Harry is asking for “reassurance” from his family that “everyone will keep things polite and give her a fair chance”.
However, the list of demands has allegedly left a bad taste in the mouths of senior royals.
“A large number of senior royals are outraged that Harry’s had the audacity to make all these demands ahead of his trip,” the source added.
“The fact that, once again, it all centres around Meghan – and presumably ensuring she’s treated with kid gloves.”
It’s claimed the alleged demands have particularly angered the Prince and Princess of Wales and Queen Camilla, while King Charles is taking a softer approach.
“King Charles is clearly desperate for peace and to keep all sides happy, but he needs to be careful.
“If it starts looking like he’s treating Harry like a prodigal son, it will cause a lot of resentment.”
Meghan Markle has not travelled to the UK since Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in September 2022.
Before that, the Sussexes visited with their children, Prince Archie, seven, and Princess Lilibet, four, for the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Celebrations.
Security arrangements remain a major concern for the Montecito-based family, with Harry previously saying it is “impossible” for him to bring his wife and children to the UK following the loss of his security protection.
“[I cannot] see a world in which I would be bringing my wife and children back to the UK at this point,” he told BBC News in May 2025.
“I can only come to the UK safely if I am invited, and there is a lot of control and ability in my father’s hands.”
The duke lost access to taxpayer-funded police security after stepping down from royal duties in 2020.
Last year, he lost a Court of Appeal challenge against the UK government over his security arrangements. He has since challenged that decision through the courts and is awaiting the outcome of a fresh review.
Harry’s security concerns have reportedly increased following an attack on Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor near Marsh Farm last week.
The disgraced ex-prince was walking his dogs on the Sandringham Estate when a man wearing a balaclava and carrying a weapon charged towards him.
Andrew was able to drive away unharmed, and the man was arrested.
“Harry was horrified,” a source told Rob Shuter. “If someone can get that close to Andrew near a royal estate, then nobody is truly protected anymore.”
