Harry and Meghan married on May 19, 2018, in Windsor. On Tuesday morning, midnight in the US, Meghan shared 24 new photos from the ceremony and reception of her special day, taken by photographer Chris Allerton.
The posts featured photos of the couple from the ceremony, along with more intimate photos from the reception at Windsor Castle. The Duchess captioned both carousels with the message “Eight years ago today…” and the moon and sun emojis.
In a mixture of black and white photos and colour, the new pictures show behind-the-scenes moments from their official wedding portrait shots, along with Harry delivering his wedding speech and the crowd at the ceremony.
The other post shows the couple celebrating together in the evening, twirling and dipping on the dancefloor before sharing a kiss.
Meghan credited the “wonderful” Chris Allerton, the photographer behind the shots.
One of the photos from the reception showed the couple sharing a passionate kiss, while in another one, Meghan could be seen smooching her husband and holding his face, as he made an animated expression.
Now, a royal expert has blasted the Duchess for uploading the photo and described it as “ghastly”.
Veteran royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams took to his X account to share his thoughts on the photo.
He said: “This is a ghastly photo. Meghan has released it & others to commemorate their 8th wedding anniversary.
“They look like a couple of drunks & this should have been redacted. Perhaps it’s a metaphor for what she has done to his relations with his family!”
The Duchess carried on marking her special day all the way until Tuesday evening, by sharing a series of personal videos from her home in Montecito, in which Prince Harry can be seen surprising her with an anniversary cake and a penguin sculpture.
Their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet can also be heard singing and cheering in the background.
