Meghan Markle was caught on camera sharing an affectionate hug with iconic Vogue editor Anna Wintour at Paris Fashion Week, though sources suggest their bond hasn’t always been smooth sailing.

She seems to be attending without company, as Prince Harry was absent when Meghan emerged wearing an elegant all-white outfit at Balenciaga’s Spring/Summer 2026 womenswear showcase on Saturday evening. In footage shared on X, the Duchess was captured inquiring about Wintour’s wellbeing, with the fashion mogul replying it was, “Nice to see you.”

The Forces for Change edition allegedly involved Meghan investing seven months collaborating intensively with former Vogue editor-in-chief Edward Enninful, producing an issue that honored remarkable, trailblazing women. However, Meghan’s alleged “demands” to the Vogue editorial team reportedly caused a rift between her and Enninful.
It’s claimed that Meghan even approached Wintour with her requests after Enninful informed her they couldn’t be accommodated at that time.

Not even Beyoncé.”
Meghan reportedly requested to appear on the covers of both the US and UK September issues. However, Vogue editors in both countries had already secured cover stars, making it impossible to fulfill her request. Serena Williams, a close friend of Meghan’s, was slated to grace the US cover, while supermodel Linda Evangelista was lined up for the UK edition.
Despite Enninful allegedly informing Meghan that her six demands couldn’t be met, the Duchess is said to have bypassed him entirely by approaching the formidable Wintour — the inspiration behind the iconic film The Devil Wears Prada — in an attempt to secure dual covers across both the US and UK.
“Anna wasn’t interested,” a source told Page Six. “Meghan asked for a Zoom with her to reconsider, and Anna did it to be polite.”
When Enninful rejected the Duchess’s demands, it reportedly sparked tension between the duo, though sources offer conflicting accounts regarding how severe their fallout became. Meghan allegedly canceled the entire planned feature after neither Enninful nor Wintour accommodated her requests, leaving Enninful “furious.”
The Daily Mail cites a source stating, “The duchess and her team had high expectations and were expecting she might get a print cover or at least a digital cover out of it, but Enninful was not able to meet those expectations. He already had a magazine cover in the bag for that month. Edward was furious to have lost the project, as were the powers that be at Condé Nast.”
The source continued, “The whole process became very difficult. Edward could only promise her a big showy feature inside the magazine and online — but she turned it down.”
They also revealed that the incident has created a significant breach between the Duchess and her former ally, with her and the ex-British Vogue editor no longer communicating. However, insiders told Page Six that the duo maintains a “warm and respectful” friendship despite disagreements over Meghan’s media coverage in 2022. They reportedly still exchange birthday greetings and occasionally send each other flowers.
While Meghan has yet to grace the cover of the renowned fashion magazine, her sister-in-law, Kate Middleton, has previously secured a spot. In 2016, the future Queen was featured in a milestone issue celebrating the magazine’s centenary, with a multi-page glossy spread showcasing her love for rural life.
Recently, rumors have circulated that Kate was offered a “global cover” at the iconic magazine, which would feature her on both the US and UK editions.
