Meghan Markle made a surprise visit to a children’s hospital this week, where she met young patients. The Duchess of Sussex visited Children’s Hospital Los Angeles on Thursday as part of the hospital’s Make March Matter campaign.
For the first part of her visit, Prince Harry’s wife spent time in the Creative Oasis area of the hospital, where she watercolour-painted with the young patients. Meghan joined patients and staff in the calming activity for some time.
The duchess, who was not accompanied by her husband on the visit, then spent time on the wards with bed-bound patients who were unable to leave their rooms. It was a visit reminiscent of those undertaken by her late mother-in-law, Diana, Princess of Wales.
The hospital wrote on Instagram yesterday: “Today we were honored to welcome LA’s own Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, to CHLA’s Creative Oasis, where she spent time painting alongside our incredible patients.
“These special moments are a reminder of how powerful creativity can be in fostering joy, connection, and healing.
“Meghan’s visit is part of #MakeMarchMatter, our month-long fundraising campaign supporting the lifesaving care, research, and innovation that happens at CHLA every day. For 125 years, CHLA has been a steadfast beacon of hope and healing.
“You, too, can make an impact by shopping, dining, or attending an event with a #MakeMarchMatter participating business. For more info, visit makemarchmatter.org.”
The visit made by Meghan on March 12 has been praised by royal fans, with one writing online: “This is incredibly touching. Bringing comfort, creativity, and smiles to children who are going through so much is such a beautiful use of her time and platform. A really special visit.”
