Meghan Markle was mocked by fans online for “clinging on” to her husband, Prince Harry, “big time” during their two-day tour in Jordan. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex spent two days in Jordan attending various engagements to highlight the humanitarian efforts by the Jordanian authorities and a range of agencies supporting the health and wellbeing of Syrians and Palestinians who have sought sanctuary in Jordan over the decades.
They were invited there by Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the director-general of the World Health Organisation (WHO). In pictures circulating on social media, Meghan could be seen holding her husband’s arm as they posed with Dr Tedros and other dignitaries.
But fans were not impressed with the gesture and accused the duchess of “clinging on” to her husband.
One user wrote on X: “She is clinging on to [Harry]h, big time! The expressions on their faces says it all!”
Another one commented: “They are meant to be professional pics. Why is she hanging onto him with her double claw?”
A third one added: “Who does this? I am happily married and don’t feel the need to hang all over my husband in public. Truly perplexed.”
A fourth one asked: “Is her arm padlocked on to his?”

Others defended the couple’s appearance, with one user writing about their trip: “The Sussexes are there to do real work not to do simple things like laughing with fellow which does not impact their subjects.”
Another one said: “Harry and meghan don’t care about royalty. They are their own royalty. Why should they want to meet Abdullah or any member of his family for?. They are there for WHO, not the kingdom of Jordan.”
