Duchess Meghan‘s Daytime Emmy nomination is causing a stir.
The nod for her Netflix show, “With Love, Meghan,” was announced Tuesday, July 14, in the outstanding lifestyle program category.
While the duchess, 44, took to Instagram to celebrate her first nomination and to thank her team, some on social media were quick to point out that the show, which failed to make Netflix’s top 300 most popular shows in the first half of 2025, also received some rather brutal reviews.
“With Love, Meghan” is up against NBC’s “George to the Rescue,” Hallmark’s “The Motherhood,” BYUtv’s “The Wizard of Paws” and “A Different Breed” from InkBlot Narratives.
The 53rd Daytime Emmy Awards ceremony will take place on Oct. 30 at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles, California.
Duchess Meghan’s Netflix show reviews were mixed: ‘Unrelatable’ but ‘uplifting’
The show, which ran for two seasons and a Christmas holiday special, had some viewers deeming it and its companion lifestyle brand as “unrelatable.“
The Guardian’s review of the lifestyle show’s first season declared it “toe-curlingly unlovable TV,” while its review of the second season was not much better, claiming it to be “so painfully contrived that it’s genuinely fascinating.”
The first season debuted in March 2025, and showcased Meghan keeping bees, creating a rainbow out of fruit and carefully preparing meals with fresh ingredients from her garden. Viewers witnessed her arranging flowers, harvesting honey, talking about jam and sprinkling edible flowers over various dishes.
The second season of “With Love, Meghan,” ranked 1,124th on Netflix’s most watched shows list between July and December 2025, according to a report released by the streaming giant.
After quitting the royal spotlight, the Sussexes signed a contract with Netflix reportedly worth more than $100 million.
Over the two seasons, there were guest appearances from celebrity friends, including Mindy Kaling and Chrissy Teigen and of course from Meghan’s husband, Prince Harry.
The Christmas special, titled “With Love, Meghan: Holiday Celebration,” featured festive recipes and landed at No.1,022 on Netflix’s list of most-watched shows in the the second half of 2025, according to the engagement report.
The Independent called the first season of the show “queasy and exhausting,” pointing out Meghan sprinkling edible flowers over most meals. “Even fried eggs,” the outlet wrote, seemingly in disbelief.
Not everyone, however, disliked the mother-of-two’s homemaking show. Some on social media praised the show’s soothing nature. “It was so uplifting and relaxing,” one X user wrote. “It is such a calming, peaceful show and so beautiful,” wrote another.
In March, it was announced that Meghan’s lifestyle brand was parting ways with Netflix, representatives for the royal and streaming giant confirmed. The duchess and the streaming giant collaborated on the launch of the As Ever brand in 2025, following the release of “With Love, Meghan.”
A spokesperson for As Ever thanked Netflix and told USA TODAY that the brand is now ready to stand on its own, teasing “an exciting year ahead.”
“Meghan’s passion for elevating everyday moments in beautiful yet simple ways inspired the creation of the As Ever brand, and we are glad to have played a role in bringing that vision to life,” Netflix told USA TODAY at the time.
Royal reunion comes amid Meghan’s Emmy nomination
Harry and Meghan stepped back from their roles as senior royals in 2020 and now reside in California, Meghan’s home state. The decision sparked backlash and deepened a divide in the royal family.
Following their relocation, the pair sat down for an explosive tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey in which they alleged racism in the royal family. In 2023, Harry released his bombshell memoir “Spare,” revealing physical and verbal arguments with his brother, Prince William and other family disagreements.
The couple also signed a Spotify deal to produce and host podcasts, with Meghan releasing 12 episodes of her podcast “Archetypes,” inviting celebrities including Serena Williams and Mindy Kaling to discuss the issues facing women.
The pair and their children, Archie, 7, and Lilibet, 5, are now largely estranged from the royal family, though they did reunite with King Charles on British soil last week.
No photos or details of the surprise royal meeting were released but it came amid a tense visit for Harry, who was denied accommodation at Buckingham Palace, lost a privacy lawsuit against the publisher of The Daily Mail and spent much of the week without his wife and children, who opted not to join him in London over security concerns.
