According to People, the Duchess of Sussex arrived in signature minimalist style, wearing a crisp white oversized cape layered over a matching button-down shirt, paired with black pointed-toe heels and a slicked-back bun.

A spokesperson for Markle confirmed her attendance was tied directly to Balenciaga’s new creative leadership under Pierpaolo Piccioli.

“Over the years, the Duchess has worn a number of designs by Pierpaolo. They have worked closely together, collaborating on design for key moments on the world stage,” the statement explained.

The appearance was framed as both a show of personal support and professional respect: “She has long admired his craftsmanship and modern elegance, and tonight was no different. This evening reflects the culmination of many years of artistry and friendship.”

Piccioli, who took over as Balenciaga’s creative director after Demna’s departure to Gucci, brought color and structure back to a house long defined by oversized, monochrome street silhouettes.

Models walked in platform flip flops—replacing stilettos with comfort—while carrying itty-bitty bags that signaled a fresh, playful approach.
