Meghan Markle has come under fire for allegedly laughing at a model who stumbled on the runway. The Duchess of Sussex is currently in Paris for Fashion Week, where she was seen attending Balenciaga’s major show.

Nevertheless, the trip hasn’t gone smoothly for the Duchess, as she seemed to chuckle when a model fell while walking the catwalk. Video footage appears to capture Meghan attempting to strike up a conversation with actress Dame Kristin Scott Thomas.

In the recording, Kristin can be observed turning away from Meghan. Kristin maintains close ties with the Royal Family, having attended a state banquet alongside King Charles and Queen Camilla at Windsor Castle earlier this year. It comes as Meghan ‘doesn’t want to get involved’ with Prince Harry’s peace talks with his family. 

This marks yet another uncomfortable misstep after Meghan was caught on camera recording herself with her feet propped up on car seats while traveling through Paris, mere moments from the Pont d’Alma tunnel, where Prince Harry‘s mother Princess Diana tragically died.

Several Royal supporters have condemned the video Meghan shared as “thoughtless” and “bewilderingly tasteless”. One described the brief clip as “insensitive beyond belief”, reports The Mirror. 

Addressing reports concerning the Instagram story, a Sussex source informed Newsweek: “They have chosen, at a complete stretch I might add, to draw the most tenuous, tenuous link between an Instagram post and the death of Harry’s mother. That for me is the insensitive bit.”

The source also informed Newsweek that Meghan was unaware the underpass was close by. Fans were curious about Meghan’s presence at the event, with her representative stating: “Meghan, Duchess of Sussex attended the Balenciaga show in Paris on Saturday night in support of Pierpaolo Piccioli, who recently assumed the role of creative director for the house. This marks her first time back to the shows in over a decade.

“Over the years, the duchess has worn a number of designs by Pierpaolo. They have worked closely together collaborating on design for key moments on the world stage.”

They further added: “She has long admired his craftsmanship and modern elegance, and tonight was no different. This evening reflects the culmination of many years of artistry and friendship, reflected in her support for his new creative chapter at Balenciaga.”

Her unexpected appearance in Paris is thought to be her first trip to Europe since the Invictus Games in 2023, where she attended the event organized by her husband, which took place in Düsseldorf, Germany.
