Meghan Markle has come under fire from critics who disliked her comments in a recent interview.
The Duchess of Sussex opened up about her relationship with husband Prince Harry in a new interview earlier this week, and now her comments have seen her slammed by a royal expert who called Meghan “patronizing” and “cruel.”
Royal Biographer Angela Levin joined Talk TV anchor Mark Dolan on his show as she discussed the comments made by Meghan in a new interview with Harper’s Bazaar.
In the chat Meghan, 44, spoke candidly about her bond with Harry, 41, and how he has transformed her life. She said, “He loves me so boldly, fully, and he also has a different perspective because he sees media that I wouldn’t.”
“No one in the world loves me more than him, so I know he’s always going to make sure that he has my back.” Meghan then explained further how when it comes to Harry “you have someone who just has this childlike wonder and playfulness.”
She added, “I was so drawn to that, and he brought that out in me. That’s translated into every part of our life. Even in business, I want us to play and have fun and explore and be creative.”
Angela took offence at Meghan’s comments saying, “Not one word about her loving him. I can’t imagine any man whose wife said that to him, that he has childlike wonder, and that’s why she’s much better than him, She’s much more sensible, much more clever. And you know, I think he’d walk out the door.
“But what a terrible thing to say about your husband. That’s so patronizing, so cruel, so awful. So that’s the first thing I think.”
Mark then replied, “She is calling him a man boy, isn’t she? She She is saying the true bit out loud, which is that he’s her accessory. He’s the help. He’s an assistant. He’s the spare in his own marriage.”
Angela continued, “Yes. But it’s not even that he’s a man boy. He’s just a boy. You know, I mean, I think it is so rude and she thinks this is lovely. I mean, that’s why she’s got no idea how to behave. She can’t be interviewed. She should realize that by now, but she says all the wrong things.”
The scathing take continued as she added, She has to feel that she’s absolutely super wonderful, super clever, but you’re not super clever when you do something like that. It’s cruel and nasty. And if that’s what she thinks, she’s even worse than I thought.”
Mark again joined the conversation with his own views as he offered, “Well, she’s infantilizing him, calling him a a a sort of somebody with childlike wonder. It’s a shocking thing, like you said, to say to your husband. And she didn’t mention, as you
said, that she loves Harry, but that he knows that he’s got to look out for her and that he will, which doesn’t sound like an expression of love. That sounds, Angela, like an instruction.”
