Meghan Markle’s As Ever online shop has revealed data for how much stock she has through a weakness in the website’s design—and she appears to be sitting on around $21.8 million worth of product.
Online critics of the Duchess of Sussex spotted that they could determine her stock take by adding hundreds of thousands of her products to the basket, at which point the As Ever website rounded the number down to the maximum it could sell.
This appears to have yielded broadly accurate tallies of Meghan’s stock across her range of products, Newsweek has confirmed. And the figures add up to $21.8 million at sale price—not cost—for 650,190 products. Her costs will, of course, have been lower as the sale price is intended to include profit.
Why It Matters
The As Ever lifestyle shop was initially hampered by a stock shortage, leading to product drops selling out in minutes and little opportunity for her to gauge the most popular items.
This also meant she missed out on the profit she could have made from the customers who left the site empty-handed after finding everything sold out.
What To Know
Over the course of 2025, Markle fixed her supply-side issues, massively increasing her inventory, and has not suffered from the same problems since August.
However, some detractors now appear to argue that she has too much stock and will struggle to sell the produce she has invested in, some of which is perishable, even if it has a long shelf life.
A source familiar with As Ever told Newsweek: “It’s exceeded everybody’s expectations in terms of how well it’s gone, I would say, across the holiday period. That period has been incredibly successful.
“People are attempting to paint a negative narrative and are choosing how they present things, choosing how they share information to fit a particular narrative to perpetuate certain negative story lines and this is just another example of how people have to be really discerning with the way that they not only consume media, but the way that they interpret data and facts that are shared with them, because they often don’t present the whole picture.”
The data came out after one critic of the duchess realized they could add an unlimited number of each As Ever product to the cart, and the website would simply reduce the number at checkout to the total stock.
A Reddit post posted on January 3, in which they described the process, read: “I made a fake order on WasNever and figured out her EXACT inventory of products!
“I pretended to order 200,000 of the orange marm and was told ‘only 44,612 were added to my cart based on availability.’ I did the same with every product. Here’s the current unsold inventory. (fake order deleted obvs).”
Some also came back a couple of days later to get an updated stock figure and used that to deduce that Markle had sold 15 jars of orange marmalade in two days and 39 signature fruit spread gift boxes.
On that basis, they argued it would take Meghan years to sell out her current stock, though, of course, sales over two days in January will not be indicative of the year as a whole.
How As Ever Data Compares to Meghan’s Past Comments
As Ever has generally kept this kind of commercial data close to its chest despite requests from journalists for hard numbers, but Markle did hint that her stock totals may have been even higher at one stage.
The duchess was asked how she felt about initial product runs selling out in minutes during a Bloomberg sit-down interview in August.
“When you sell out that quickly, it’s a double-edged sword,” she said, “because it’s an incredible thing to happen for any small business and any startup and at the same time, you don’t get the same metrics and learnings about which SKUs (Stock Keeping Unit) and products are the most coveted because it’s all gone immediately.
“So then we prepped for the second seasonal drop and 10x’d our inventory and thought for sure, for sure, that would at least last for a couple weeks.
“That sold out in a couple hours and suddenly the conversation goes from, at the start of this year, talking about a few thousand jars and lids to ‘we need to do a purchase order of a million.’ And that’s a huge jump in just a few months of starting a business.”
It is also worth noting that her Raspberry Spread, her original signature product, is currently sold out.
As Ever is also braced for the possibility that demand will spike when the brand begins selling internationally, offering products to consumers in Britain and other countries. Meghan told Bloomberg in August that going global was “absolutely” the plan.
