A major secret about Meghan Markle‘s As Ever jam has been exposed by royal biographer Tom Bowers. The 44-year-old launched her brand last April, with products sold by the brand ranging from jam to decorative flower petals and wine to pancake mix.
It was previously reported that the jam, which is advertised as a spread, was packaged 2,000 miles away from Meghan’s home in Montecito, California. Exposing a secret about the product, Mr Bowers told the latest edition of Daily Espresso that even the jam makers were sworn to secrecy about where the jam was made.
He said: “I spent a lot of time and a lot of money trying to track down firstly, where the jam was made, and secondly, who produced the jars.
“She is so careful about controlling the narrative that even the jam makers had to sign non-disclosure agreements [NDAs] to protect the secret of Meghan’s jam.”
According to a previous article by the Daily Mail, there was no indication on the label of the fruit spread as to where it is actually made.
One expert has gone so far as to describe it as “purposefully vague”.
Experts that the publication spoke to suggest that the spreads are mass-produced, and possibly from a “co-packaging” factory.
The latest collection released by As Ever, which is a US Mother’s Day release, has also caused controversy over Meghan’s decision to use her children as inspiration.
The candles are dedicated to six-year-old Prince Archie and four-year-old Princess Lilibet.
The ‘Signature Candle No. 604’ is inspired by Lilibet’s June 4 birthday. The second is named the ‘Signature Candle No. 506’, which is inspired by Archie’s May 6 birthday. Shown on the As Ever website, it states “Prince Archie of Sussex’s Birthdate” and “Princess Lilibet of Sussex’s Birthdate” in the descriptions.
