Meghan Markle has revealed a sweet Christmas morning tradition that she has with her family in the festive episode of her Netflix show, With Love, Meghan. The 44-year-old celebrated the release of the newest episode yesterday, with the entire episode focused on everything Meghan loves about the festive season.
Surrounded by Christmas decor, Meghan reveals that she loves to make a special festive-themed brunch for Prince Harry and their two children on Christmas morning. As she makes a cinnamon star and baby quiches, the royal says: “I love the tradition of a Christmas morning brunch – I do it every year with my family”.
The tradition is different from how the royals spend Christmas morning. The royals traditionally travel to St Mary Magdalene Church in Sandringham for an early morning festive service on December 25.
The royal also uses the episode to share her mum’s recipe for Christmas Eve gumbo, which is a soul food recipe rooted in Doria’s family history.
Revealing that it is a recipe that her mum makes every Christmas, Meghan told Top Chef star Tom Colicchio: “It’s a once-a-year thing that she does, so we’re going to make some gumbo”.
In a previous interview with Marie Claire, Meghan discussed her love for the Christmas season – as well as the excitement of her children.
Speaking of Prince Archie, six, and Princess Lilibet, four, Meghan said that she is enjoying the ages her children are currently at – and is especially looking forward to seeing the festivities through their eyes.
Meghan told the publication: “At first, I think as a mum with children you’re just enjoying having them there, but they’re not understanding everything that’s happening yet.
“But now we’re at the age where I just can’t wait to see it through their lens every year.”
Previously discussing traditions that the family have at Christmas, Meghan – who lives in California with her family – said that their traditions include leaving “carrots for the reindeer”.
