Diary clashes between the Sussexes and the Royal Family have sparked fears that the feud is “alive and well” – and that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have “clear divergence in opinions”. Last week, Prince Harry and Prince William had a major public appearance clash, but the spotlight quickly turned to Meghan Markle as she announced a return to Hollywood, which reignited concerns about fresh tensions.
Harry flew to Canada to mark “the period of Remembrancetide”, while William was visiting Brazil for his highly anticipated Earthshot Prize and to represent the King at the COP30 climate change summit. As pictures emerged of William delivering his keynote speech, photos surfaced of Harry with soldiers in Canada, which Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams claimed not only points to a growing divide between the brothers, but also between the Sussexes themselves.
“It was outrageous for Earthshot to be overshadowed, first by Harry’s visit, and then by news of Meghan’s film,” he claimed.
“The feud appears to be alive and well and living, and that any relationship between William and Harry is unfortunately water under the bridge,” he told OK! Magazine.
“Harry’s relationship with his father is another matter, but I suspect William is not on Harry’s list of priorities any more.”
Meghan, who formerly starred in Suits, revealed this week she will make a shock return to acting after eight years to star in Close Personal Friends, alongside Lily Collins, who is known for her role in Emily in Paris.
However, the royal insider believed there is a “clear divergence in opinions” as Meghan is even more focused on stateside living thanks to her Hollywood role, while he believed Harry wants to spend more time in the UK.
He said that Prince Harry “still feels very deeply about his homeland” and his essay for the period of remembrance, which usually runs from November 1 to 11, revealed this.
Titled The Bond, The Banter, The Bravery: What It Means To Be British, Harry’s essay described the “things that make us British” like the “banter of the mess, the clubhouse, the pub, the stands,” adding, “I love it.”
However, Mr Fitzgerald added that Meghan would be even more resistant to return to the UK, as she would want to distance herself from the disgraced Andrew Mountbatten Windsor.
“Her brand is currently far enough removed that it shouldn’t be damaged and she will certainly want to keep it that way. The levels of toxicity are such that there is certainly potential for damage to be done,” he claimed.
