In response, Meghan’s brother, Thomas Markle Jr, defended his sister, maintaining that she “had a really good family” and “got everything she ever wanted.”
Nevertheless, Roslyn, the ex-wife of Meghan’s father – whom she married in the 1960s – shared her viewpoint on Meghan’s family relationships during a 2017 interview with Radar Online.
And for many, it wasn’t the explanation they were expecting – as Roslyn insisted it wasn’t a family dispute that was to blame.
“It’s not tension. It’s distance,” she explained.
“When Meghan graduated from high school, she went to Northwestern which is up in Illinois.

She posted: “FYI I read online said that Roslyn Markle was Meghan’s stepmom LOL my dad divorced Roslyn in 74… she remarried… no relation to Meg ever and she knows nothing about our lives or Meghan! In a subsequent tweet, she added: “Roslyn only knows Meg from what she has studied about her in the media LOL.
“Meghan could be on the verge of creating a ‘mega-brand’ with her lifestyle project As Ever, as she was seen mingling with PR tycoon Emma Grede.
The Duchess of Sussex attended a dinner hosted by Grede – the brains behind Kim Kardashian‘s Skims brand and Khloe Kardashian’s clothing brand Good American – which celebrated women “owning their power” and helping “each other get s**t done.”
Ms Grede shared several photos and videos from the feast, captioning her Instagram post: “Not my typical Wednesday after work” before showing behind-the-scenes footage from the evening, with Meghan’s wine (2024 As Ever Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc) being served throughout the night.
