Meghan Trainor has made it clear that she has no time for anyone wanting to insult her recent 60-lb weight loss.
The 31-year-old singer has been extremely candid about her ongoing health journey and has been open with her fans about the fact that she has used weight loss medication to help speed up the process.
However, that hasn’t stopped cruel trolls from constantly talking about her body, “attacking” her for the steps she’s taken to lose weight. But, despite the criticism she’s received, Meghan just wants people to know that she doesn’t care about their opinions when it comes to her body.
Since March, Meghan has had to battle unnecessary comments about her weight loss journey after she revealed she has been using Mounjaro, a GLP-1 injection.
She opened up to fans via an Instagram post, telling them she started taking the medication after welcoming her second child with her husband, actor Daryl Sabara. However, she also noted that she has been working with a dietitian and a trainer, as well as making lifestyle changes.
Despite her honesty, she has received a barrage of abuse from trolls about her weight loss.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, she said, “The world’s getting crazier and meaner, and they’re louder. I’m literally for the first time ever, after having babies, taking care of my health to the highest level, and I’ve never felt better, and I look incredible. I feel great.”
Adding, “And that’s when people attack me? I’m like, ‘What?'”
Meghan also noted that there’s no way to win against these trolls, as she faced bodyshaming before her weight loss, as well as after.
“I’m like, wait a second, I’m taking care of myself. You don’t like it? Okay, what am I supposed to do?” she asked. “I have to find a way to not be affected by that.”
The Me Too singer further explained that her new single, “Still Don’t Care,” which is part of her upcoming album, is a message to her haters.
“Mess with me, I can take it because I’m strong,” she said, adding, “If I’ll sit there and cry about something, my husband’s the first to be like, ‘Look up… Your life rocks. Or if I’m comparing myself, he’s like, ‘Oh, they don’t have Barry and Riley.’ I’m like, ‘You’re right.'”
Speaking to PEOPLE, Meghan opened up again about the backlash towards her weight loss journey, telling the media outlet, “My page is usually a friendly, happy, mom-loving place, but it took a dark turn.”
“People started commenting about my body, saying I’m too thin, and that they don’t recognize me anymore. And I was like, ‘Oh, I’ve just been focusing so hard on my health and my fitness that I’ve never felt better,'” she explained. “So, I was confused and sad and was like, ‘Oh, it’s almost worse now.’ I don’t know what happened.”
However, she said by writing “Still Don’t Care,” she’s able to reclaim her power.
“At one point, we got to give up and stop caring. That’s my dream. That’s what I’m working on. I’m rewiring my brain to finally believe this. And I know when I sing it a hundred times, I will,” Meghan remarked.
Meghan’s next album, Toy With Me, is set for release on April 24, 2026.
