The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke recently shared fresh details about the highly anticipated The Boys: Mexico spin-off. In a new interview, he offered insights into the project’s early development and teased what fans can expect from its direction. Kripke also highlighted the involvement of two well-known stars who are shaping the series behind the scenes.

Eric Kripke says The Boys: Mexico spin-off ‘script is good’

Eric Kripke told Collider on the red carpet for the Gen V Season 2 premiere that the project’s pilot is currently in development. He stated, “The pilot of [The] Boys: Mexico is being developed right now. It’s very cool. I mean, who knows — obviously you never know, but I can say that the world itself meets the standard of all of our spin-offs.”

He continued, “It’s our world but a totally different tone, and it’s super fun. Gael and Diego are executive producers, which is amazing and [they] really engaged with it, so — short answer is we’ll see, but I think the script is good.”

Prime Video announced the series in 2023 to expand the satirical superhero universe of The Boys into a new setting. Gael García Bernal and Diego Luna serve as executive producers, while Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer leads the project as showrunner and writer.

The Boys: Mexico joins a growing roster of spin-offs from the flagship Prime Video series, which premiered in 2019. Previous offshoots include The Boys Presents: Diabolical (2022), an animated anthology.

Another is Gen V, a live-action college-set series now heading into its second season. A prequel titled Vought Rising is also in production. It features Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash reprising their roles as Soldier Boy and Stormfront, respectively.

With The Boys preparing for its fifth and final season, Prime Video continues to expand the universe created by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson. The creative team has already written the pilot script for The Boys: Mexico and considers it “good.” Kripke has not announced a premiere date.
