Eric Stonestreet has suffered a heartbreaking loss following the death of a special friend.
TheModern Family star is sharing his story to shine a light on someone who meant so much to him. In a social media share, Stonestreet posted a carousel of photos of his friend Tristan.
“This is a tough one, but with his dad’s permission, I get to tell you about our pal Tristan. Tristan is the reason Lindsay and I met 9.5 years ago. He brought us together. She was his nurse, and I was on a hospital visit for The Big Slick weekend,” began the actor’s caption.
Stonestreet revealed that his friendship with Tristan began the second he met him. The Modern Family star recalled being captivated by Tristan’s smile the first time they met years ago.
“He was non verbal, but said so so much with his gigantic smile and with his enthusiastic full body waves. Tristan passed away this morning after 27 years of a very difficult, surgery and hospitalization filled life,” Stonestreet shared.
Although it seems “unfair” to the actor that Tristan is gone, the impact he had on so many people’s lives, including Stonestreet and his new wife, Lindsay, will last forever.
“Lindsay and I just got to share with him last month that we got married and that it was him that made it all happen. We are crushed and heartbroken for his family who had to say goodbye to him this morning. We know Tristan is in heaven, free of pain and finally able to dance to the music he loved so much,” he expressed.
Stonestreet asked that people keep Tristan’s family in their thoughts and prayers during this challenging time. He also asked to show Tristan’s family the love and kindness that social media can bring.
“Let this post and your comments forever be a tribute to the courageous life lived by our pal. 👋🏻 ❤️ 👋🏻,” the Modern Family star stated.
The message and tribute to Tristan was filled with familiar faces showing up to give Stonestreet and Tristan’s family some love.
Everybody Loves Raymond alum Brad Garrett thanked Stonestreet for introducing him to Tristan. Katie Couric called the tribute to Tristan “beautiful,” as did Happy’s Place star Melissa Peterman.
Those are just a few of the fans and celebrities reaching out to Stonestreet following his heartbreaking loss.
