Moises and OC&C publish new reports exploring AI music trends

AI-music tech firm Moises has enlisted Water & Music for a new report surveying 1,525 musicians about how they are “actually using AI”.

It found that 78% of professional musicians surveyed are using AI versus 60% of hobbyists, and that stem-separation is the most popular use – adopted by 71% of the AI-using sample compared to 24% who are generating full songs.

21% of the pro musicians who use AI tools said they pay more than $50 a month for them, while 25% pay $20-$49 and 28% $1-19. Note, around 80% of the respondents were recruited from Moises’ own users.

If that’s not enough AI-music research for you this morning, check out another report – from OC&C Strategy Consultants. It’s a good summary of the current market trends, including separating out AI-assisted original music; AI-generated original music, and deepfakes.

The report also aggregates some previous research on how musicians are using AI, as well as how consumers feel about AI-generated tracks.
